I want you to make a very well informed decision whether or not I would be a good fit for you. That’s why I offer a free initial 15-minute phone or email consultation to answer your questions before scheduling the first session.
The First Session
After our initial contact via telephone or email, the next step is to fill out the paperwork. You can download, print, and fill out the first session documents (please see Helpful Forms section of the website). Please bring them with you to save time during your first session. Alternatively, you can complete these forms in my office.
During the first session we will talk about your current situation and your expectations of counseling outcome. At the end of the first meeting or soon thereafter, we will define therapy goals, discuss options for helping you in the best possible way as well as future plans.
Coming for counseling, and even making an initial call is not an easy thing to do – it may be scary and nerve-wracking. Sharing your story with a stranger, even a professionally trained one, takes a lot of courage. Establishing trust takes time. It is absolutely normal to feel anxious, or reserved, or cautious. I encourage you to ask any questions you may have about the process.
The fee for a typical 50-minute session is $160, with sessions billed in 1/2 hour increments thereafter. I have a limited number of slots for people experiencing financial difficulties. In that case a sliding scale fee depending on your income may be available, and can be discussed during the first meeting.
I do not take insurance at this time. I will be happy to provide you with the bill for services rendered if you need it to get reimbursed by your insurance company.
